I have always loved how certain jewelry can tell a story. People light up when asked about the funky bracelet they picked up in a flea market while visiting Rome or the strand of pearls given to them by their grandmother on their wedding day. The history behind the jewelry and the conversations that ensue are part of my inspiration in creating one of a kind pieces of jewelry.
My other inspirations are the beads. I work with many different types of materials from all over the world both old and new to create the overall look of a piece. Organic materials such as stones, coral, bone, shell and nuts provide me with the opportunity to work with such wonderfully rich textures and shapes. The workmanship of hand blown glass allows me the opportunity to work with another artist's creations into my own. And then there is vintage glass providing amazing opaque colors and light weight shapes and of course the history. I love creating jewelry because it is a small way for the wearer to be a little adventurous and make a personal statement.
